Folks, I greatly appreciate the words of sympathy and consolation. As many of you surmised, I do these pieces, not for sympathy, but to help me heal, grieve, and find my way in my new life.
Here's an article of interest: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/08/17/us/17methadone.html?pagewanted=1 Please be informed if you or someone you know, is taking painkillers.

Thanks so much for this link, Jeanette. I read the article very carefully since I know nothing about this use of methadone. Then I printed it and got my husband to read it. He's been on Dr. prescribed oxycontin for more than 2 years after a back injury and unsuccesful surgery. My sympathy for you is huge... I know you've had a long, hard road. Love, Robin A.
I'm sure sympathy is not what you are looking for but it is still the first response of most people to another's pain. And then we want to encourage you on your forward journey. Thanks for the article. It's good to know for the future. As they say forewarned is forearmed.

Thank you for using this horrible tragedy to reach out to others and save someone else.
I hope you take this in the spirit it is given and take a moment or two and laugh. Tag, you're it! Visit my blog for the rules and play the game.
